Sundown Marathon 2012

So, my first run for charity is done.

10km.

Some of you might ask why am I not running the half marathon or the full marathon. Well, the answer is quite straight forward, my bum knee starts hurting after 11km, so I guess, the smart thing (and only thing) to do is to run 10km races.

I have signed up for 3 races but I am considering uping the number of 10km races to run so that it would make it significant enough for you guys out there to donate to my cause.

Now, back to my race report.

This was my first time running a race at night. The first thing I realized was that I was yawning even before I got to the starting line. I was definitely wondering how I was going to even last to the flag off, let alone the whole race.

It was a good thing I had some cool running kakis to keep me occupied all the way to the start of the race. After that, I was basically on my own, mainly because I was I wasn’t fast enough to keep up with the fast runners in my group and was left straggling and trying to keep up.

I did not make the effort to go and study the route so basically, I was running “blind”. It was a new route for me and every turn was a surprise. The distance markers helped me guess where we were going to run to next. I kept a steady pace throughout and finished the race in a relatively ok state.

When I was going through the path after the finishing line, I caught sight of Mel, and boy, was that a sight to behold. I even managed to smile for a photo….

It was a good race, considering all the factors and the fact that I am running for a good cause. So, if you think that you would like to make a small donation to my cause, please follow the link below.

I am trying to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society. Any amount, no matter how small, will go a long way to helping cancer patients fight this killer that has in some way affected us. Be it losing a loved one to it, or knowing someone close to us who is fighting his/her battle with it.

Here’s me, thanking you in advance for your support and your donation.
