Yellow Fellows Race Report 8 – Oakley Tri Factor Run 2013

Date:  6 October 2013

Place:  Big Splash @ East Coast Parkway

Race:  Oakley Tri Factor Run 2013

Waking up to a nice cool morning after a heavy downpour set the stage for an awesome run.

The Yellow Fellows came together once again for the Oakley Tri Factor Run 2013 and were raring to go after the postponement of the first run due to the haze.  We were unfortunately missing two of our runners due to work commitments.

It was a great event that was put together, great/familiar route, awesome weather, smiling faces all around, who could ask for more?  There were a couple of distances that runners could sign up for, namely the 31.5km, 21km, 10.5km, 5km and 1km races.

Wilfred, Sijie, Khim and myself met at the Oakley tent, where we bumped into Allan Wu together with his kids.  Lots of catching up and chit chatting made for a very comfortable setting for the start of the race.

Next thing we knew, the horns were blaring and we were off.  It was great running along a route that was familiar to us as we usually do our training runs right here at ECP.  As usual, Sijie was off like a bullet.  Wilfred, Khim and myself sort of hung back a bit, easing ourselves into the race.  After about 7 mins, Khim rolled on her ankle and twisted it slightly.  We stopped to check on her, but being the trooper that she is, she kept going despite the pain.  That’s just how we roll….. get it get it?

We all then settled comfortably into our pace and by the time the sun started to peek out from behind the clouds, we were all just about to finish the race.

The atmosphere at the finish was great and by the time I had come in and said a couple of hellos to some friends, Sijie was already icing Khim’s ankle and thankfully, all is good and she’s fine.  Overall, it was great run, great event, with a great atmosphere!

So the Yellow Fellows live to run another day and at the same time, continue to raise funds for the Singapore Cancer Society.  We would not have been able to do so without the support of our sponsors, Oakley, Adidas, Quirky Designs, and Belif Singapore.

If you would like to support our cause, or think that what we’re doing is worthy or some support, you can donate at the Yellow Fellows’ page at the give.sg website.  Every little bit counts and you know what, it’s even tax deductible.  Donate now and help us spread the word.  Cancer is something that no one really deserves to suffer from, and it’s a killer that lurks amongst us, so let’s all do our part!

The fellows have another 2 races to go and we hope that we’ve somehow touched your heart in one way or other with our efforts and we thank you for your donation and support in advance.
